It provided an in-depth experience that linked a violent video game to an act of aggression.
“Children and Video Games: Playing with Violence.” American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, 2006. Web. 18 Jan 2011.
In this work, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) is an established, non-profitable association made of 7,500 trained child and adolescent Physicians and Psychiatrists. AACAP started their work by saying how video games sales of skyrocketed. The video games industry included video games that provided educational purposes, and some that offered crude and violent behavior. The work included studies that showed how adolescents became immune to violence after playing the games multiples minutes. This problem causes children to lean on attacking with the violence they have learned because they do not see that it is bad. AACAP then included tips for parents to help their children to stray away from being addicted to video games and the violence that comes along with them. This work was top notch because of the involvement of tips that can be used, reasons why violent video games are bad, and what they affect. However, unlike Dr. Phil’s work, this article included brief summaries and not just tips for parents.

The test with children was diversified with both American and Japanese children. The work showed that both groups of children showed more aggression after playing violent video games. The work then provided ways to help stop children from having aggression from violent video games. This work was very factual and included good test. The work however was also interesting because linking aggression to Japanese children showed that it was not just a catastrophe with America. Just like other works in the bibliography, Harding included ways and tips to prevent being harmed from violent video games.
McGraw, Phil. “Children and Violent Video Games.” Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil, n.d. Web. 31 Jan. 2011.
In this work, Dr. Phil is a very well known television star who is also a highly credited psychologist. He devoted this whole work on tips for parents on how to prevent their children of becoming victims of video game violence. He stated that the rise of video game violence has to do with how often violent video games are played. Dr. Phil showed in his work that parents should always look up information about a video game, look at the rating of the video game, and even call the makers to find out what is included inside the game before buying or letting their child play it. Time limits should be set on how many times a day or how long a game can be played. Parents should also discuss with their child the wrongdoing if anything negative in the video game shows up. Dr. Phil provided great tips in his work to help parents prevent damage to their minds. Although his tips were quality, the quantity of tips was slack. A few more tips could have improved his work and helped more parents realize what guidelines to set. Unlike other works, Dr. Phil devoted his whole work on tips for parents. Other websites provide more information and an occasional tip. This work was excellent to look at if extra reading is unnecessary.
